His interest piqued, he read one himself. He read a few more volumes, and noticed some patterns in the literature. He also noticed some decidedly non-Catholic trends in the books, such as the Hardy boys going out on dates with girls (no mention of courtship for marriage) and some astrology and wizardry in the newer volumes. Rayes already had a keen interest in the works of G.K. Chesterton, so he decided to combine the two with a new book series that would appeal to both children and adults – Spencer Family Mysteries. This new series centers on a Catholic family. In the early 1990s, Michael Rayes won some Catholic scholarships and pro-life speaking awards while in college. Today, he is working on volume 2 and 3 of Spencer Family Mysteries, and he will continue writing works of interest for both children and adults. | ||
